Separation of Powers ( Background )

Background The term separation of powers originated with the Baron de Montesquieu, a French enlightenment writer. However, the actual separation of powers  among  different branches of government can be traced to ancient Greece . It is safe to say that a respect for the principle of separation of powers is deeply rooted in every American.

The Vice-President does not only waits for the death, resignation, incapacity or removal of his chief, The President. The Constitution ordains that the Vice-President should preside over the sessions of the 'Senate. So, he is the presiding officer of the Senate as Ex-officio.
He votes only when there is a tie and in all other matters he plays an important role. During recent years, Vice-presidents are engaged in cabinet works by the Presidents. As for examples, President Harding associated his vice-President with Cabinet works. Franklin Roosevelt entrusted many responsibilities to his Vice- President.
